Ghana Waste to Value Project

Recovery begins with a usable specification and a real buyer.

GWVP evaluates Ghanaian waste streams as potential industrial feedstock, starting with off-taker requirements and building backward into sourcing, processing, logistics and pilot economics.

Current stage

Commercial validation. Candidate materials are being screened; none is represented as contracted supply or committed off-take.

Off-taker value

Recoverable material is not automatically usable feedstock.

We work backward from the buyer’s process so local collection effort is directed toward material that can actually be accepted and repeated.

  • Reduce rejected-load economicsDefine contamination, moisture, composition and format before collection and processing costs accumulate.
  • Lower supplier-fragmentation costCoordinate evidence and operating requirements across smaller sources rather than passing that burden to the off-taker.
  • Test true recovery yieldAccount for sorting loss, contamination, preparation and transport—not just gross collected weight.
  • Develop a planned feedstock streamUse pilots to establish acceptance data, recurring capacity and a practical collection schedule.

Candidate streams

Materials under evaluation—not a finished catalog.

Each stream advances only if buyer specifications, recoverable volume, processing needs, contamination controls and delivered economics can be supported.

Priority screening

Post-consumer plastics

Including LDPE film and sachet material, PET and HDPE, subject to sorting, contamination and format requirements.

Secondary screening

Tyres and wood residues

End-of-life tyres, sawdust and related residues where a qualified processor defines an acceptable input specification.

Selective review

Recoverable metals

Copper-bearing cable and aluminum scrap may be assessed where lawful sourcing, grade, title and traceability can be demonstrated.

Partner inputs

What a credible starting point looks like.

We are looking for evidence that can support a small, controlled pilot—not broad promises of unlimited volume or demand.

  • Industrial off-takers and processorsAccepted material, grade and format; contamination and moisture limits; trial and recurring volume; destination; delivery terms; testing; payment terms and rejection rules.
  • Aggregators and material suppliersSource locations, lawful access, recurring recoverable volume, sorting and storage methods, material evidence, transport constraints and willingness to prepare a representative sample.
  • Technical and operating partnersPractical processing route, yield assumptions, equipment needs, quality controls, permits, utilities, residue handling and pilot-scale costs.

Buyer-led pathway

Resolve the catch-22 in stages.

  1. 01

    Requirement

Obtain a written off-taker specification and commercial parameters.

  2. 02

    Supply proof

Map sources and document realistic, recurring recoverable volume.

  3. 03

    Sample

Prepare and test representative material against the requirement.

  4. 04

    Economics

Validate processing, logistics, loss, compliance and delivered cost.

  5. 05

    Pilot

Run a controlled shipment or processing trial before scaling assets.

Capital follows evidence. Long-term leases, yards and machinery should not precede demand validation, representative samples and pilot economics.
